Today, the Petition for Certiorari in the Myrna Dick deportation
case was denied by the U.S. Supreme Court.
September 8, 2006
On Friday September 8, 2006 the government filed their Response
in Opposition to the Petition for Certiorari in the Myrna Dick
deportation case. The attorneys of Sharma-Crawford have already
forwarded their Reply to the printers and expect that it will be
filed September 11th or 12th. Once submitted, all parties will wait
for the Court’s decision.
August 10, 2006
The U.S. Government has asked for another 30 day continuance for
their response in the Myrna Dick deportation case. Rekha
Sharma-Crawford, attorney representing Myrna Dick said, “This
request was expected but in no way does it foreshadow what the court
will do when they finally rule on the case.” Sharma-Crawford remains
in contact with the Dick family as they struggle with the emotional
impact created by the deportation.
Deportation Documentary Hits Sundance
This year, Sundance will feature a documentary concerning the
deportation of Myrna Dick, a Mexican-born woman who came to the US
with her family as a child (one of only 80 films accepted by the
Sundance Institute). Her case drew national attention because she is
married to a U.S. citizen, and she discovered she was pregnant with
her son, shortly after she was charged for allegedly making a false
claim of citizenship.

Today the Government asked for an extension in their response in the
Myrna Dick deportation case. A response is now due from the
Government up to and including August 9, 2006. |
